Joining Dragon Bags

Who can join Dragon Bags?

Schools, nurseries, PTAs, charities and community groups across Wales are all welcome to join the programme and begin collecting unwanted textiles for recycling.

If you would like to arrange a one-off collection, our team can help with that too.

Organisations and businesses can also take part where collections are supporting a school or charitable cause.

I’m based in England. Can I still join?

Yes, absolutely!

If your school, charity or organisation is based in England, we can still support your textile recycling through our partner programme, Recycle 4 School.

This sister programme provides the same simple, free clothing collections and fundraising opportunities for schools and groups across England, including areas close to North Wales and South Wales.

To find out more or arrange a collection, you can visit: https://www.recycle4school.org.uk or call 0800 014 2412 and our team will be happy to help.

If you are unsure which programme is right for your location, simply get in touch and we will guide you to the best option.

Does it cost anything to take part?

Taking part in Dragon Bags is completely free of charge.

There are no joining fees, no collection costs and no hidden charges, making it an easy and risk-free way to raise funds while helping the environment.

How do we get started?

Simply complete the short join form to share your details with our team.

Once received, we will confirm everything by email and guide you through the next steps.

If you prefer, a member of our friendly team can call you to talk through the process, answer questions and help you get set up quickly and confidently.

Do we need storage space at our school or site?

Long-term storage at your site is not required.

Many schools and groups run simple collection days where families bring bags in on the morning of collection and our team collects the same day, keeping the process easy and stress-free.

If you are already an existing partner with a textile bank or indoor collection box, please contact our team or use the book in a collection form and we will arrange your next service.

Can we request a textile recycling bank?

Yes, in some circumstances a textile recycling bank may be suitable.

Banks are provided following a review of the proposed location to ensure it is safe, accessible to the community and able to generate a strong and consistent level of textile donations.

This includes considerations such as secure placement, appropriate space and, in many cases, public access throughout the day.

Because of this, each request is carefully assessed so that we can recommend the most effective and responsible solution for your school, charity or organisation.

Bagged collections and efficient service = increased funds!

Many of our partners find that simple scheduled bag collections work extremely well and remove the need for permanent storage, thanks to our responsive and efficient collection service!

If you would like to discuss whether a textile bank could be suitable for your site, our team will be very happy to help and guide you through the options.

Collections and fundraising

How often can we book a collection?

Collections can be arranged whenever you have a good number of bags ready, or when a textile bank or box is full.

Just contact our team and we will organise a convenient collection time for you.

How much can our school or group earn?

Schools and organisations can receive up to 30 pence per kilogram of textiles collected, helping to generate valuable funds for your chosen cause.

What items can be donated?

Good quality clothing, paired shoes, accessories and household textiles are all suitable for donation.

A full list of accepted items is available on the home page of our website and will also be shared after joining.

Trust, impact and coverage

What areas do you cover?

Dragon Bags provides collections across many areas of Wales shown on our website homepage.

If you are unsure whether your location is covered, please contact us and we will be happy to check for you.

Is the service licensed and trustworthy?

Yes. Collections are delivered by a fully licensed textile recycling provider that is a member of recognised industry and fundraising bodies, ensuring safe, compliant and responsible recycling.

How does Dragon Bags help the environment?

Textiles collected through the programme are reused or recycled wherever possible.

This keeps clothing in use for longer, reduces waste and supports a more sustainable future.

Support, promotion and education

How can we increase the amount we collect?

After joining, you will receive free promotional materials each season, including posters and guidance to help you promote your collection and maximise fundraising.

This also includes a welcome pack, where you can find more information on how to book a free online educational session for your group!

What makes Dragon Bags different?

Dragon Bags provides more than just collections!

Partners receive ongoing support, educational resources and community engagement opportunities designed to make recycling meaningful for pupils and supporters.

What are the benefits of joining Dragon Bags?

Schools, charities and community groups that join Dragon Bags can raise valuable funds while helping protect the environment through textile reuse and recycling.

The programme is completely free to take part in and designed to be simple to manage, with a supportive team, easy collections and helpful promotional materials provided.
